Humanities education in IIT's

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences in Indian Institute Of Technology (IIT's) is established with a vision to integrate human values and social concerns with technical education. IIT educational institutes started to lead the courses and training in humanities and sociologies both, at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels by incorporating human values and sociology. 

The humanities and social sciences at the Indian Institute of Technologies are committed to active engagement in teaching, research, and other outreach activities. With its focus on humanities and social sciences, the department carries out research and teaching in emerging fields of inquiries in behavioral and social sciences.

The department offers PhD programmers in the broad disciplines of Humanities and Social Sciences, along with undergraduate courses for the students belonging to the different disciplines. Programs are included with social, ethical, environmental, cultural, and humanitarian concerns and their overall development. Apart from these, a wide range of courses offered by the departments is designed in context to the engineering problems and answer the solution for questions in harmony with the human experience.  

The study of human sciences plays an important role in education especially of scientists and engineering by offering a balanced education well-rounded and going all-rounded preparing in a specific region of innovation and empowering them to think fundamentally for themselves. 

The humanities and social sciences at the Indian Institute of Technologies are committed to active engagement in teaching, research, and other outreach activities. These institutes are focused on interdisciplinary dialogues in humanities and social sciences.

The department carries out research and teaching in emerging fields of enquiry in behavioral sciences. The humanities department offers a PhD program in the broad disciplines of humanities and social sciences and offers a range of undergraduate courses to the students of technology studies from the disciplines of Philosophy, economics, history and international relations, sociology, and foreign languages.

Undergraduate programs regarding the department are designed to appreciate and engage with the social and economic context to the engineering problems and to frame questions and formulate solutions that are in balance with human experience. 

Frequently, Students are really shocked to find that humanities and sociologies provide alternative modes of cognition and that not all problems of society have a technical solution. Technology, after all, does not exist in a vacuum.
