Education leadership in the digital era

The quality of a successful leader is included with effective communication, public relations amongst the team members. In this digital age sharing your vision for learning is about building community and nourishing your relationship with the collaborators.

This day of professional learning provides the tools for digital leaders to build their community through effective communication and marketing strategies. Leadership in education required a dynamic combination of mindset, behaviors, and skills to improve the culture of the school using technology. It is about working smarter and achieving results and making things better to result in the process.     

As society becomes more and more reliant on technology and it is incumbent upon the leaders to tackle the power of digital technologies in order to develop school cultures that are transparent, relevant, and inspiring. Education leadership is required in order to achieve big goals and to establish a greater sense of community in our schools, education leaders are required.     

Pillar of education leadership in digital era : 

1. Communication: Now the mode of communication has been changed completely, a leader can now provide relevant information in real-time using a variety of devices. Apart from usual communication, one-way methods such as newsletters and websites, online tools for communication are available. Social media tools play a very important role as important information and implementation strategies can be communicated through various free social media tools, in order to meet team members where they are in the digital age.  

2. Public Relations:  In the age of digital marketing, leaders can now build the foundation of positive relations platforms using free social media tools where informational content can be shared. Leaders can share all the educational related thoughts and information on various social media. By doing this one gets the chance to connect with large audiences along with better public relations. Also, this is a mode by which we share all of the positive associations with our schools and create a much-needed level of transparency towards education.   

3. Learning: We can't anticipate an increase in achievement whether students are learning. Education leaders should understand that schools reflect and allow the student to implement what they learned. This can be measured by using digital tools. Educational leaders equipped with digital tools can create artifacts of learning that measure conceptual mastery. This is an important education model that focuses on improved communication, collaboration, creativity, media literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving.   

4. Professional Growth: With the use of social media, educational leaders and schools no longer have to be isolated. Education leaders can form a personal learning network to meet the diverse learning needs acquiring resources, access knowledge and to connect with both the experts and the practitioners.    

By addressing the above-mentioned pillars, leaders can begin changing and transforming their respective schools. This will help them to prepare learners with essential digital age skills while interacting with different types of colleagues. Educational leadership in the digital age begins with identifying obstacles and creating solutions to overcome them in order to transform schools in the digital age.
